Cable Crane Montreal Olympic Stadium

In 1998 HMV was approached by DCCI (Danny’s Construction Co., Inc) for supply of a custom designed Cable Crane for the roof replacement project at the Montreal Olympic Stadium. I was appointed Project Manager for HMV and carried out the technical development of the crane as well as field inspection and technical/commercial negotiations with DCCI. During the project I lead the design process as well as having meetings with DCCI, the stadium owner and official Canadian authorities and finally leading the testing and commissioning of the crane. The Lower anchorage of the track rope could be moved laterally around the circumference of the stadium roof during the work to enable the Cable Crane to cover most of the roof. The system was designed for personnel transport with a very high level of safety. A separate personnel basket moved independently of the load supported by the main trolley.
Max. Lifting capacity was at 175 m. Lifting height was 15 tons and max inclination was 60 deg.

Employed by Hordaland Mek. Verkstad.
